Clinton wins -- at least near hometown

Hillary Clinton may have lost the state she grew up in, but she scraped out a victory among voters around her hometown of Park Ridge.

Voters in Maine Township, which includes Clinton's old stomping grounds along with Des Plaines and other suburbs, gave Clinton a 426-vote lead over Illinois Sen. Barack Obama.

Clinton won 9,969 votes to Obama's 9,543, according to unofficial results Tuesday.

Clinton didn't campaign in Illinois, largely conceding the race to Obama, who took the state as a whole with nearly 65 percent of the vote.

Obama, however, pulled a significantly wider margin in his Chicago ward, where his neighbors supported him with 95 percent of the vote. In his precinct, Obama landed 208 votes to Clinton's 22.
