Shelter to have Valentine's Day event

On Saturday, Anderson Animal Shelter will have a special Valentine's Day event from 4 to 6 p.m. in the auditorium of the shelter, 1000 S. LaFox (Route 31), South Elgin.

The purpose is to showcase and find homes for the long-term resident dogs -- Maya, Beau, Riggs, Nova, Gracie and Quincy.

Attendees can meet and socialize with these dogs. There will be adoption staff on hand for anyone interested in adopting these or any of the shelter dogs that afternoon.

This interactive event is open to the public, with time spent feasting on snacks, playing games for prizes and socializing with volunteers and community members.
