'Put down' owner, not the poor dog

I felt compelled to write your paper after seeing the photo on the front page of the pit bull being held down by police. You could see by his sad crouch that he was scared.

After reading the article about the woman being attacked, I felt sorrow. Not just for the woman and her innocent dog, but the pit bull as well.

What kind of person locks a dog in a freezing garage with little food? A dog is not a possession to be used by the owner possibly for dog fighting. Dogs are feeling, loving beings if raised with compassion.

Whenever I hear this type of story, I wish it was the owner who was "put down," not the poor dog.
