Aurora man charged with robbery after cops follow footprints to house
A 22-year-old Aurora man has been charged with sticking up a food delivery driver, Aurora police said Monday.
Police said Guadalupe Garcia robbed a delivery driver from Montgomery at gunpoint Thursday after placing an order to an address in the 300 block of Liberty Street.
When the female driver arrived, police said a masked man standing outside the house asked to make change for a large bill. When the woman pulled out more cash, the man grabbed his money back, displayed a weapon and ordered her to give up the remaining money.
When police were notified, a responding officer noticed fresh footprints in the snow leading from the crime scene to Garcia's residence in the 200 block of North Lincoln Avenue.
A search of the home turned up evidence linked to the armed robbery. Garcia was then arrested.
It is the second time in a week a delivery driver has been robbed on North Lincoln. A pizza delivery driver was held up by two men with guns Jan. 26.
Police said they believe the incidents are related and more charges against Garcia may be forthcoming, authorities said.
A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to additional arrests in the case.
Tipsters may remain anonymous and still collect rewards by calling Aurora Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000.
