On term limits, terror fight, draft
Richard Lindholm's letter regarding recent actions by Dennis Hastert was right on target. He also correctly labeled the 109th Congress as corrupt and self-serving.
His potshots at President Bush are accurate because of Bush's refusal to veto huge, wasteful spending bills.
But we must support the president's actions fully on his conduct in fighting the war against Islamic terrorism.
To subdue worldwide Islamic terrorism, we must reinstate the draft and put the USA on a war footing with full production. Otherwise the war could drag on for decades, eventually even be lost.
Lindholm's views on the necessity for congressional term limits is the crown jewel of his letter. The status quo of the present shameless career politicians and D.C. insiders, both Democrat and Republican, must be ended soon for this nation to survive.
Term limitation, not to exceed 12 years in office, is way overdue. One last suggestion: if any House or Senate member decides to run for the presidency, he or she will be required to give up their seat in Congress.
Millions, if not billions, of pension and campaign dollars would be saved.
