Footlik offensive in his pandering
As a 10th Congressional District citizen and a member of the Jewish community, I was offended by a mailing I received from Congressional candidate Jay Footlik.
The mail piece, entitled "I'd be meshugana…." uses Jewish stereotypes and slang to try to insinuate that Jay Footlik is the only candidate to vote for simply because he has a Jewish surname.
Mr. Footlik, I have news for you. Members of the Jewish community aren't as shallow as you think.
Sending out a mailing claiming that you "prayed to meet a lovely Jewish girl in Israel" doesn't entitle you to my vote. Any thought I had to voting for you next year was certainly lost by your most recent stunt.
My parents raised me to look at an individual beyond the color of their skin or the faith of their forefathers when picking my leaders.
Instead of pandering to my ethnicity, why don't you tell the voters of the 10th District why you are more qualified than Congressman Mark Kirk or Dan Seals to be my congressman?
