Vehicle hits liquor store

No injuries were reported after a driver struck a glass door leading into S & R Liquors in the Forest View shopping plaza, 1716 W. Algonquin Road in Hoffman Estates. Owner Sam Vakil said five customers had departed shortly before a woman drove the vehicle into the door and sprayed glass about 5:40 p.m. Friday. Vakil said he was standing at a cash register near the door when the incident occurred. "I'm OK," Vakil said. "I'm a little bit scared." Wooden boards were being installed in place of the glass at the liquor store late Friday. Vakil said he expects to reopen today. Additional information from Hoffman Estates authorities was unavailable. Vakil said his wife, son and a friend were assisting with the cleanup.
