Three women receive mild electrical shocks outside Sears Tower
The management of Sears Tower in downtown Chicago has turned off an electrical snow melting system after three women received mild electrical shocks while walking outside the building.
Police say the incident occurred when heating grates used to melt snow off the sidewalk apparently malfunctioned Friday morning.
Two of the women declined medical treatment, while the third was treated for a twisted ankle.
In a statement Friday afternoon, Tom Dempsey, a vice president and general manager of Sears Tower, said the snow melting system has been turned off.
