Oberweis is no great businessman
I've been shutting my radio off a lot lately because it seems every time I turn it on, I hear Jim Oberweis' voice.
He's been trying to drum into our heads how he has successfully impacted communities by building businesses and creating jobs for the past 30 years. Clearly, Oberweis has rewritten his own personal history.
Jim did not build Oberweis Dairy into what it is today. His family created it, and in the 1980s, his then-wife, Elaine, was the heart and soul of Oberweis Dairy. At that time, Jim was running Oberweis Securities, a brokerage firm.
I find it interesting that Oberweis hangs his hat (and campaign) on his business-building abilities since many employees lost their jobs due to his poor planning.
Why am I so familiar with this side of the story? I was one of those employees.
Jim Oberweis, successful businessman, bringing jobs to communities?
It seems a strange way to describe the man who almost single-handedly ended the careers of every employee at his former firm.
