Man charged with attempted murder

A North Aurora man remained in Kane County jail on Wednesday after being charged with attempted murder.

Dariusz D. Hrehorowicz, 36, 686 Graham Road, put a plastic bag over the head of a woman he lived with and held it around her neck, according to court records.

He was charged with attempted first-degree murder, a class X felony; aggravated unlawful restraint, a class 3 felony; aggravated battery, a class 3 felony; two counts of domestic battery, class A misdemeanors; and unlawful interference with reporting of domestic violence, a class A misdemeanor, according to police.

His bond was set at $2 million.

Hrehorowicz grabbed and pushed the 32-year-old woman Jan. 23, and disconnected the phone when she tried to call police, according to court records.

The woman did not have life-threatening injuries, said Lt. Scott Buziecki of the North Aurora Police Department.

Hrehorowicz did not yet have a lawyer on Wednesday, according to court records.

He is scheduled to appear in court next week.
