House fire in Mundelein
About $5,000 in damage was caused after a blaze occurred at a single-family home in the 6500 block of Diamond Lake Road in Mundelein, fire officials said. An automatic alarm summoned the Mundelein Fire Department to the house at 8:28 a.m. Wednesday. Firefighters found light smoke coming from the structure. No injuries were reported. Officials said the fire was under control within 38 minutes, but the fire was difficult to locate because it had moved into a utility chase. The homeowner was allowed to return. Damage was confined to the utility area. Officials said the house was valued at $500,000.
