Briefs: Flower sales for charity

Flower sales for charity

In conjunction with the American Cancer Society, Antioch High School's National Honor Society is selling daffodils at $10 a bunch through Feb. 19. Funding from each purchase will go toward funding educational programs, services for cancer patients and families and other programs. A Gift of Hope purchase delivers flowers, a vase and information anonymously to cancer patients in area hospitals. Last year's sales totaled about $5,000, and the high school has lead the way in Daffodil Days donations in Lake County the past two years. Flowers will be delivered to school the week of March 17. For information, call (847) 395-1421.

MainStreet gets new leader

The Mundelein MainStreet downtown merchant group has promoted its part-time office manager to be its newest executive director. Terry Skriba fills a void created in April 2007 when Marian Rodriguez quit the group's top post. Skriba is the third executive director in the group's history.

Kindergarten info night

Lake Zurich Unit District 95 is inviting parents of children who will be entering kindergarten next school year to attend Kindergarten Information Night on Tuesday. Sessions will begin at 6 p.m. at each of the district's six elementary schools. Parents will receive information on the registration process and learn more about their child's future school. Those who register by March 3 will receive their bus assignment (which also lets them know whether they have a morning or afternoon session) in May. Those who register after that date will not know their assignment until much later in the summer. Parents can pick up kindergarten registration materials from any elementary school within District 95. For more information, contact your local elementary school: Charles Quentin, (847) 438-2420; Isaac Fox, (847) 540-7020; May Whitney, (847) 438-2351; Sarah Adams, (847) 438-5986; Seth Paine, (847) 438-2163; Spencer Loomis, (847) 719-3300.
