Notes: Woods is making his fifth appearance in Dubai. He won the Buick Invitational on Sunday in San Diego in his first start of the season. … Els also is in the field along with Sergio Garcia and Colin Montgomerie.

Last year: Australia's Aaron Baddeley won the second of his two PGA Tour titles. Baddeley birdied three of the final four holes for his second straight 7-under 64 and a 1-stroke victory over John Rollins.

Last week: Tiger Woods won the Buick Invitational for the fourth straight year, winning his season-opening event by 8 strokes to tie Arnold Palmer for fourth place on the PGA Tour victory list with 62. Woods has won six times at Torrey Pines.

Notes: Phil Mickelson won the 2005 event, shooting a 60 in the second round en route to a 5-stroke victory. The former Arizona State star also won in 1996. … The AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am is next week.

Last year: Australian star Karrie Webb won for the third time, beating Wei Yun-Jye by 6 strokes at Royal Sydney. Webb also won in 2000 and 2002 at Yarra Yarra.

Notes: Webb tops the field along with England's Laura Davies, young Australians Katherine Hull, Lindsey Wright and Nikki Garrett, South Africa's Ashleigh Simon, South Korea's Birdie Jim and American Tiffany Joh. … Davies, the 2004 winner at Concord, won the Australian tour's New South Wales Open on Sunday at Oatlands for her 69th worldwide victory.
