Two Elgin teens charged in pizza man robbery
Two Elgin teens have been accused of using a gun to rob a pizza delivery driver Saturday, police said Monday.
Christian A. Gomez, 19, of 390 S. Prairie St., and Johnny Mitchell, 19, of 154 Laurel Court, were charged with armed robbery and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, police said.
The delivery driver was called at 10:37 p.m. Saturday to the 900 block of Carol Avenue, where three men grabbed him, pulled him inside a house and hit him in the head with a handgun.
They took $70 in cash, three pizzas, three pizza covers and one order of breadsticks, police said.
Police traced the bogus pizza order to a cell phone and said the call was made from Prospect Avenue in Elgin.
Gomez was arrested there, police said. Mitchell later was arrested on Fleetwood Drive, police said.
Police said they recovered the three pizza boxes and a 9 mm handgun from the Fleetwood apartment.
Bonds for Gomez was set at $25,000; bond for Mitchell was set at $30,000.
They are being held in the Kane County jail and with Feb. 14 court dates at the Kane County Judicial Center.
