Lake business offered job training grants
The Lake County Workforce Development Department is promoting the availability of training grants for Lake County businesses to upgrade their current workforce skills. The grant is available through June 30. Businesses needing training to meet changing skill sets in response to new technology, new product lines or new organizational structuring are eligible for these resources. A single employer or a group of related employers may take advantage of the training grants. The industry sectors eligible for these grants are:
• Healthcare
• Manufacturing
• Transportation, Warehousing, Logistics
• Finance
• Insurance
• Information Technology
• Construction
The amount of the grant is based on the number of employees. Companies decide what type of training would most benefit employees as well as how and where that training will be provided. Lake County businesses interested in applying for a training grant should contact Joyce R. Parnell at (847) 377-3420 and complete a Project Training Application.
Cook County businesses are also eligible for training programs and services offered from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. For information about the Department's programs, visit www.commerce.state.il.us/dceo/.
