Local author hosts kids' poetry show

Children's author and performer Bill Buczinsky of Arlington Heights will present an evening of poetry and song to benefit the charity AboutFace USA. The "Frozen Poetry" show will take place at 7 p.m. Feb. 9 at Gorton Community Center, 400 E. Illinois Road, Lake Forest.

Celebrate Buffalo Grove's 50th

The village of Buffalo Grove is selling special 50th Anniversary commemorative license plates. These are valid Illinois plates that will display the village of Buffalo Grove's 50th Anniversary logo, and can be displayed on vehicles from July 4 to Sept. 1, 2008. Vehicle registration must be valid through Sept. 30, 2008.

Plate numbers will be issued at random. Plates will be mailed from the secretary of state's office. While the 50th Anniversary plates are attached to a vehicle, the vehicle's regular license plates must remain in it and be reattached no later than Sept. 2, 2008.

Complete the application on the village Web site vbg.org and return it with $25. The application deadline is June 12. For more information, call (847)459-2511.
