Round Lake Beach teen dies after being hit by car
A 17-year-old Round Lake Beach teen died Saturday after being struck by a car as he crossed the street last week.
Alonzo Delatorre was flown to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge Thursday night where he remained in critical condition until around 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Round Lake Beach police said.
According to reports, Delatorre was running with friends near Hainesville Road and Merriwood Lane when he was hit by a vehicle traveling north on Hainesville Road.
The driver was questioned and released, said Round Lake Beach Deputy Chief Rich Chiarello.
Police will not release the name of the driver until after speaking with the state's attorney's office today, Chiarello said.
Funeral arrangements for Delatorre were unknown Sunday.
