Batavia Depot to host 'Lincoln Dinner Theatre'
Dozens of enrichment opportunities for students will all be in one place for a resource fair next month.
The Kane County Regional Office of Education and gifted parent groups from the Tri-Cities will host the "Beyond the Classroom Educational Resource Fair" from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 26.
Representatives from local universities, music groups and museums will be on hand to talk about programs they have for students from kindergarten to high school. This is the third year of the fair, which draws about 1,000 people annually.

Lincoln theater: The Batavia Depot Museum will host the sixth annual "Lincoln Dinner Theatre" at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 17. It's at -- where else? -- the Lincoln Inn, 1345 S. Batavia Ave. The all-new performance will focus on the Lincoln-Douglas debates. This year is the 150th anniversary of those debates.
Max and Donna Daniels will portray Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln, and Brian Gugala of Bartlett will play Douglas.
The $30 tickets include dinner and the performance. They can be purchased at the Batavia Park District Civic Center, 327 W. Wilson St.; the Eastside Community Center, 14 N. Van Buren St.; or the Depot Museum, 155 Houston Street.

College financial talk: Making smart financial decisions for college is the subject of a talk at Batavia High School from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 7.
Representatives from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission will talk about how to avoid credit and debt problems, as well as how to plan for the future. College-bound Batavia seniors are invited to attend for free, but must register in the guidance office at the high school.
Don't wait: The Batavia Park District is holding a seminar for procrastinators who would like to change their ways. Presenters will discuss the link between procrastination and perfectionism and suggest ways to overcome procrastinating. The program will be from 7 to 8:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Eastside Community Center, 14 N. Van Buren St. The cost is $16 for residents. To register, go to www.bataviaparks.org or call (630) 879-5235.
Lunch and laughs: Bethany Lutheran Church in Batavia is hosting a lunch and show by comedienne Sally Edwards at noon Feb. 10. Edwards, a graduate of Second City, combines family humor, songs and audience interaction in her shows. She has been featured on shows on Showtime, A&E and NBC. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased through the church office at (630) 879-3444 before Feb. 3.
