St. Edward adds Elgin grad Corn to its coaching staff

New St. Edward softball coach Mike Rolando has announced the addition of former Daily Herald all-area player Jaci Corn to the Green Wave coaching staff.

"I take great pride in surrounding myself with coaches of great character, in addition to knowledge of coaching and their sport," Rolando said. "That being said, I am very happy to announce the addition of coach Corn to our softball staff, as I believe she fits all of those criteria."

Coach Corn graduated from Elgin High School and is currently completing her Masters Degree work in Sport Management at Northern Illinois University. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Judson University where she was an assistant softball coach during the 2006-2007 season.

During her playing years at Elgin, Corn was named to the Upstate Eight Conference all-conference team, as well as being a Daily Herald all-area player for three straight years. She continued her career at Elgin Community College for two years where she was an all-conference player and a Region IV all-region team selection. Her last two years were spent at Judson University where she was named the Eagles' Defensive Player of the Year two times.

Corn not only coaches the game but is active herself, and will enter her fifth season playing for the Northern Illinois Lightning Fastpitch Softball Organization at the 18 & over level. She is also a private softball instructor at Fox Valley Sports Academy, teaching hitting, slapping, fielding, and throwing.
