Vote for Lauzen is one worth casting

State Sen. Chris Lauzen is my choice to represent the 14th Congressional District.

Lauzen has always personally responded to questions, complaints, concerns and suggestions from his constituents, which is a rarity in today's politics, and his responses were usually the same day as the call.

Lauzen has always been forthright in stating whether or not he could accommodate the request or suggestion or complaint. This honesty is refreshing, to say the least.

Lauzen not only understands his roots, but also clearly understands his responsibility to represent the concerns and needs of his constituents, a responsibility he has never taken lightly.

I am not sure why Dennis Hastert would make any endorsement in this campaign. Hastert served this district well, but he gave up his right to choose a successor when he chose to take early retirement, in doing so causing the need for two elections to have to be scheduled.

Hastert would have done well to just let the elections proceed on the merits of the candidates. Hastert's endorsement and the elaborate and recently nasty TV/radio ads from the opposition may or may not have an impact on my candidate's success, but one thing is certain: The best endorsement for any candidate comes from the appreciation of those he represents.

Opponents have said Lauzen is not compromising enough. I firmly believe our nation is in the position it is because of too much compromise. If lack of compromise is the complaint, then where is the problem?

If this were a one-issue campaign, any candidate might be worth the vote. But this is a critical, multi-issue campaign which will require a candidate who will remain approachable even after the election.

A vote for Lauzen is a vote worth casting.
