Park district helps our quality of life
This morning we woke up to a wind chill factor of minus 23. The holidays are over, and visions of warm sunny days came to mind. "Why do I live here?" I asked myself.
Then I remembered. We love this community! We love St. Charles so much we decided to return and raise our children here.
St. Charles, as a whole, protects what it has and is. We have so much to be proud of, and so much still to do.
When hearing about the referendum coming up on Feb. 5, I looked into how the park district planned to use the money at www.st-charlesparks.org.
Only 6.3 percent of our tax dollar is designated to the park district. This referendum is such a small price to pay for family entertainment and the mental/physical health of our children. I asked myself, "A new video game … or … all the park district will offer?"
Having a much needed new pool is fantastic! Also, being able to improve Potawatomie Pool, buy land for more parks and preservation, and enjoy everything else that is listed.
Our park district has been awarded the National Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management. Please look at the Web site, and let's encourage them to continue improving our community, our property values, and allow more areas for sports and recreation.
