O'Hare weather is not just an excuse

I have worked for a major airline for 21 years. I can assure you when you see a weather delay, weather has played a part somewhere along the line.

When telling passengers of a weather delay, most look out the window and not seeing problems in the immediate area, believe they are being lied to. The aircraft does need to travel to its destination, might there be a weather problem in a different region? Or weather which began upline and is affecting the arrival of the flight?

I recall the day of fog delays; they began early and affected the operation for some time after. That type of problem does not correct itself immediately.

I can assure you, we like an on-time departure as much as you do.
