Laesch is best for 14th District

My husband and I are tired of receiving expensive mailings from multimillionaires like Bill Foster! Today the postman brought yet another to add to the stack we've already received.

In it, the guy states a pretty good platform. However, much of it appears to be taken from that of union carpenter John Laesch, who courageously ran for Congress last time around against the then powerful Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert. Laesch managed to garner 40 percent of the vote, the highest percentage of anyone who ever ran vs. Hastert. This time, with Hastert out of the race, Laesch stood a good chance of winning. But now Foster decides to invest a chunk of his fortune in running vs. John in the Democratic primary. Well, I don't think the people of the 14th District can be bought that easily.

No multimillionaire by any means, John Laesch is indeed a "man of the people" who knows our needs and will work for our interests in Washington. He has long advocated ending the war in Iraq, achieving strength through diplomacy, and redirecting our nation's resources into good paying jobs and health care, and a clean environment, along with a fair trade policy.

The cover of a particularly irritating mailer from Foster pictures a huge bow tie on Congress and a portrait of Paul Simon on the back.

Now I knew Paul Simon, and Bill Foster is no Paul Simon!
