Adding some facts to irksome articles
We were somewhat disturbed by Larissa Chinwah's Jan. 13 column in the Daily Herald and a news article on the front page of The Courier News on Jan. 17.
Fox Valley Citizens for Legal Immigration is a volunteer group established to fight illegal immigration in the Fox Valley and the spending of our tax dollars to support illegal aliens. We support the efforts of any public servant/politician willing to uphold the laws of the United States, State of Illinois, every county and village in the Fox Valley.
Our initial efforts were directed to Carpentersville where trustees were courageous enough to bring this problem to the forefront in spite of the concerted efforts of those who would subvert our laws to stop them.
Most of the members of FVCLI are constituents of the trustees of Carpentersville. Some live in unincorporated areas adjacent to Carpentersville.
We were pleased that Trustees Paul Humpfer and Judy Sigwalt would provide a forum for us to address our grievances to the village without a limit on the amount of time we could speak, unlike at village board meetings, where discourse is limited or gaveled.
All meetings FVCLI members have attended have been open to the public, advertised on a Web site and by other means. To my knowledge, only two people have been barred from attending meetings, both of them for cause after having attended several times.
FVCLI has held public meetings at both the Carpentersville and West Dundee VFW clubs. The fees requested have been paid and all requirements of the clubs have been followed.
It is our understanding that Carpentersville trustees are legally allowed to meet with their constituents in a village facility with the permission of the village manager and concurrence of the department responsible for the facility.
Before using the Carpentersville & Countryside fire station to meet with constituents, Sigwalt did indeed have the permission required. No meetings were ever held in "secret," no constituent was ever told to speak at a board meeting or given any scripted message to use.
Fox Valley Citizens for Legal Immigration operates in the full light of day, sponsoring political events, entering and winning awards in local parades and other community activities.
Some of our members hold positions of responsibility in village, township, fire and county governments. Our Web site is www.foxvalleycitizens.com and we welcome all legal residents in the Fox Valley to join and support us.
