Round Lake Beaach woman cleared of drug charges

Cocaine possession charges against a Round Lake Beach woman stemming from a raid on her home were dismissed Friday in Lake County circuit court.

Bonny Palka, 50, was facing up to three years in prison if she had been convicted of the charges.

Assistant State's Attorney Scott Hoffert said Palka was arrested March 12 when police raided her home at 62 Ivy Drive.

After a small amount of cocaine was found in the house, Palka and another resident of the home, Keith Glorioso, 41, were both taken into custody.

Hoffert said he agreed to dismiss the charges against Palka when both she and Glorioso presented him with signed statements saying the drugs belonged to Glorioso.

Glorioso has pleaded not guilty to possession of cocaine and is scheduled to go on trial Feb. 19.

Like Palka, Glorioso faces up to three years in prison if convicted.
