Body found on South Side

Chicago police are conducting a death investigation after finding human remains Friday afternoon on the city's South Side.

The body was found at 3400 S. Kedzie Ave. near the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal, according to a spokesman at the city's office of news affairs.

Also discovered at the scene was a blue garbage can.

A spokesman at the Cook County medical examiner's office said an autopsy is scheduled for today.
