Antioch says that new village administrator will be good fit
Jill Velan, 37, of Evanston, will assume the position as soon as the village board approves her contract, said Village Clerk Candi Rowe.
Velan has spent the last 10 years as assistant village administrator in Lincolnwood and said the Antioch job was appealing because of the location.
"Antioch is a growing community with a lot of exciting things that will be going on over the next several years," she said.
Velan replaces Michael Haley, who retired in July. Her expected annual salary was not available.
James Keim has served as the village's interim administrator and will return to his position as director of physical services.
Antioch Mayor Dorothy Larson said the village received about 50 resumes when it advertised for the position and interviewed six people.
"Jill had great credentials and I think she will be a wonderful fit for us," Larson said. "The community she comes from has had some similar projects to what we're looking at and she seemed to have everything we needed."
Velan said her first order of business will be to work on a plan to accomplish all of the things the board wants to get done.
"I'm very excited for this opportunity and look forward to working with the village board, staff and community," Velan said.
