Lots more to see at Cedar Grove

After introducing 52 single-family homes at Ryland's newest community, Cedar Grove, the builder has introduced 87 maintenance-free townhouses.

Located just west of Randall Road at the intersection of Bowes Road and Corron Road in Elgin, Cedar Grove is a 54-acre community that enjoys a quiet, country setting yet is within minutes of I-90, Metra train service and is served by Burlington District 301 schools.

According to Ryland's vice president of sales and marketing, Robert Meyn, Cedar Grove builds on the success of another nearby Ryland Homes' neighborhood.

"We introduced Shadow Hill in 2005 and it has been one of our fastest selling communities," Meyn said. "First-time buyers really seemed to gravitate to the brownstone-like townhouse plans with standard two-car garages offered at Shadow Hill which is why we are offering the same plans at Cedar Grove."

Buyers can visit the models at Shadow Hill and yet purchase a home at preconstruction savings at Cedar Grove. With townhouses at Cedar Grove priced in the $230,000s, monthly payments are often less than area rents.

The townhouses range from 1,764 to 2,185 square feet with two or three bedrooms; 2½ baths; kitchens; large informal living areas; lower levels; and attached two-car garages.

The five plans include:

• The Amherst: A 1,764-square-foot design with two bedrooms and a loft; 2½ baths; island kitchen with breakfast room; family room; master bedroom suite with private bath and walk-in closet; lower level with utility room, storage room and access to the two-car garage. This home is priced from $234,990.

• The Chatham: A 1,894-square-foot home with three bedrooms; 2½ baths; charming kitchen; formal dining area open to an expansive living room; master bedroom suite with large walk-in closet and private bath; lower level with utility room, storage room and access to the two-car garage. This home is priced from $239,990.

• The Chelsea: A larger version of the Chatham, this home features 2,079-square-feet of living space with three bedrooms; 2½ baths; spacious kitchen; formal dining area open to the living room; master bedroom suite with large walk-in closet and private bath; lower level with utility room, storage room and access to the two-car garage. This home is priced from $251,990.

• The Dunmore: Also a 2,079-square-foot home priced from $251,990, the Dunmore offers three bedrooms; 2½ baths; eat-in island kitchen open to the family room; formal living room open to the dining room; master bedroom suite with large walk-in closet and private bath; lower level with utility room, storage room and access to the two-car garage.

• The Easton: A 2,185-square-foot home with three bedrooms; 2½ baths; large eat-in kitchen open to the family room; formal living room and adjoining formal dining area; master bedroom suite with his-and-hers walk-in closets and private bath; lower level with utility room, storage room and access to the two-car garage. This home is priced from $257,990.

"We're anticipating late spring early summer deliveries which help buyers who are anticipating the end of a lease or give buyers plenty of time to sell an existing home," Meyn said.

In addition to the townhouses, Cedar Grove features single-family homes ranging from 2,420 to 3,805 square feet with four bedrooms; 2½ baths; large island kitchens open to family rooms; formal living and dining rooms; first-floor studies; master bedroom suites with large walk-in closets and private baths; lofts per plan; full extra-deep poured basements; central air conditioning; and attached two and three-car garages. The single-family homes are introductory priced from $346,990 to $404,990.

"Buyers who visit Cedar Grove will be impressed with the wooded surroundings and acres of green space preserved within the community," Meyn said. "Privacy will be plentiful at Cedar Grove and single-family buyers who choose a lookout or walkout basement will be able to appreciate the lush surrounding from every level of their home."

Cedar Grove residents are within minutes of a variety of services and conveniences. I-90 is within ten minutes of Cedar Grove and local shopping can be found along Randall Road.

Children attend Burlington schools in District 301, including Prairie View Elementary, Prairie Knoll Middle School and Central High School. Metra train service can be found in downtown Elgin as well as the Big Timber station.
