Living room still prominent with Remington Homes

Like Mark Twain's death, reports of the demise of the formal living room are greatly exaggerated.

In recent years many builders have whittled down the size of this room while increasing the dimensions of the family room.

At Remington Homes, however, the living room remains an important part of the house.

"We've listened to our buyers who have told us a family room is an important space for casual entertaining. But they also emphasized that a formal living room is just as essential for receiving guests and special-event entertaining," said Jay Dulla, president of Remington Homes.

Remington at Providence and Remington Meadows are two neighboring, but distinctly different single-family communities in Elgin. Standard features in homes in both communities include full basements, central air conditioning, hardwood or ceramic floors in the foyer, powder room and kitchen, master bath, solid six-panel doors and 36-inch maple cabinets with crown molding.

Homes in both Remington Meadows and Remington at Providence are currently discounted $15,000 to $48,000, depending on the home site. But these year-end incentives will not apply in the new construction season when the cost of both labor and building materials is expected to rise.

Remington Meadows is a small enclave of just 57 luxury single-family homes. Base prices range from $329,900 to $442,900 for these two and three-bedroom ranch and three to five bedroom two-story homes that have from 1,944 to 3,832 square feet of living space.

Just one home is ready for quick delivery at Remington Meadows. The four-bedroom Ashford is on a premium lot and has been upgraded with a lookout basement and fireplace. This family-sized home is priced at $349,900.

Remington Meadows is immediately adjacent to Remington at Providence, a community where ranch and two-story homes are priced from $324,900 to $395,900.

Two ranch homes and one two-story home are now ready for quick delivery at Remington at Providence. Upgrades in these models that have been discounted up to $48,000 include full basements, vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors, oak railings and gourmet kitchens. The four-bedroom Ashford is now priced at $394,900 in this location. The two two-bedroom ranch models are the Dover priced at $389,900 and the Turnberry priced at $375,000.

Remington Homes understands that purchasing a new home while selling an existing home can be extremely stressful. That's why the builder has created a Buyer's Assurance Program to help make the process go more smoothly.

The first step is one day of free home staging services. Remington has also formed a relationship with ERA Countrywide Realty and will pay all the costs involved with getting started with the ERA Sellers Security Plan in which a local ERA office will guarantee to sell your home at a predetermined price within 180 days. If it is not sold within that time, ERA Countrywide Realty will purchase it at 90 percent of the appraised value.
