Bridge invitational
Winners of the ACBL duplicate bridge invitational Jan. 19 were Susan Mackinney and Julie Worden playing north-south and Naomi Cartwright and Karen Richardson for east-west. Runners up for north-south were Nancy Berg and Kay Burda in second place, Irene Crawford and Betty Smith, third, and Jay Kadakia and Ron Schwarz, fourth. For east-west Doinnelle Brosseau and John Diehl came in second, Donna Cassaboy and Arvind Shah, third; Jeanette Shannon and Michele Taylor, fourth, and Barb Bonner and Ardythe Edwards, fifth.
Sanctioned by the International Contract Bridge League, the duplicate bridge invitational is held the first and third Saturday of every month. The next game will be Feb. 2 at 12:30 p.m. in the Prairie Lodge multi-purpose room. For information, contact Grace Selby at (847) 515-2621.
Canasta
Mae Connelly and Marion Blaski put down the top score of 94,320 Jan. 17 in triple play canasta.
Euchre
Karen Klein and Nancy Morbeck tied for first place in euchre Jan. 17 when each scored 67 points. Don Ferraro took second place with 67. Third place went to Ed Langen scoring 58. Bob Brown and Pat Rzeszuico tied for fourth place with 55 points each.
Bowling
Sharing first place in the Sun City Bowling League at Brunswick Zone, Algonquin Jan. 9 were the Suns, Trailblazers, and Mavericks each with 17 wins and four losses. The Heat and Wizards tied for second with 16-5. The Cavaliers took third place with 15-6. Fourth place went to the Timberwolves with 14-7. Individual top women's scorers were June Choate with 204 for high game scratch, 266 of high game with handicap, and 678 for high series with handicap. Pat Rzeszutko took high series scratch with 538. John Sala dominated men's scoring with high game scratch, 244, high game with handicap, 279, high series scratch, 610 and high series with handicap, 715.
Pinochle
John Wronski turned in the high score of 670 in the morning session of pinochle Jan. 14. Barb Hoppensteadt was low scorer with 379. Bob Ziwiski took two double pinochles, while Ron Diehl, Dan McDonald, John Wronski and Penny Wronski each had one. Carol Charpentier, Don Glasgow, Sharon Pieroni, Norma Schroepel, Susan Sennot and Helen Szybowski each played an all-trick hand.
In the afternoon session Audrey Warnecke was high scorer with 654. Joe DeMay played the low score of 408. Double pinochles went to Norma Schroepel, Delores Senft, Fred Senft and Marilyn Winter. Marlene Tresp played two all-tricks. Lucy Christensen, Rich Christensen, Joan Licitra, Art Merkelz, Marie Nugent, Ed Redker, Eric Schoenfisch, Alice Stuckmeyer, Helen Szybowski and Doug Williams each had one.

Contract bridge
Scoring 5,350 points gave Joan Mudd first place in contract bridge Jan. 16. Second place went to Wally Westphal who scored 5,110. Bill Macomber placed third with 4,950. Betty Smith came in fourth with 4,940. Also in the top seven were Irene Crawford, fifth, 4,910; Loren Stuvick, sixth, 4,890, and Chuck Zunker, seventh, 4,800.
In pairs contract Jan. 15 Bill Macomber and Jan Zimmerman placed first with 4,820. Walt Figge and Loren Stuvick came in second with 4,100. Ann and Pat Danna were third at 4,000. Irene Crawford and Betty Smith placed fourth with 3,480, and Shirley Bruns and Jan Koerner took fifth place with 2,950.
Duplicate bridge
Winners of duplicate bridge Jan. 14 were Janet Clark and Arvind Shah. Ann Durgin and Karen Richardson placed second. Carol Smith and Brenda Tomlinson were third. Harry Leopold and Dolores Vonder Harr took fourth place.
In duplicate bridge Jan. 18, Dave Germaine and John Papaleo took first place for north-south. Ann and Pat Danna were first for east-west. Runners-up for north south were Nancy Berg and Grace Selby in second place, Charlotte Irvine and Nancy Riley, third, and Janet Clark and Karen Richardson, fourth. For east-west, Mary Ann Harju and Bill Macomber placed second, Marilyn Bailey and Holly Borkowski, third, and Jan Koerner and Betty Smith, fourth.
Cribbage
Wally Bartels took first place in cribbage Jan. 16 with a perfect score of 484. Tom Fleming and Marge Herschberg tied for second with scores of 483. High individual hands of 24 points were posted by Bartels and Sue Chiodo. Herschberg, Terry Burkhardt and Yvonne Petty had 21 each. Bill Macomber and Harry Anderle scored two hands of 20 and Susan Sennot had one. There were six skunks.
