Boys give birthday money to PADS
During their recent Christmas break, Elliott Blackburn and Colin Camblin, third-graders at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School in Itasca, joined forces to celebrate their ninth birthdays with friends.
For their party, they invited friends to see a movie, play games and eat cake -- not unusual.
However, rather than have guests bring gifts for them, Elliott and Colin asked for monetary donations to be donated to people who are less fortunate.
On Jan. 8, St. Peter the Apostle sponsored Itasca's PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter).
Elliott and Colin visited PADS that night and were able to help more than 20 individuals by providing each of them with $15 to help meet their needs.
Coincidentally, among those seeking shelter and a meal that night was a boy about the same age as Elliott and Colin.
