Keep campaigns out of the churches
Why is it when a government or public building erects a nativity scene or other religious symbol, there is an outcry of negativity from some? Separation of church and state!, they cry.
Yet these same hypocrites are silent (as is the media) when Sen. Barack Obama, former President Bill Clinton, Gov. Rod Blagojevich or another politician goes into a church to "preach" politics. Whether Democrat or Republican, there are plenty of politicians who have done this and used the "God" connection conveniently to their advantage.
Likewise, there are not enough expressing opposition to this, as those who support the idea of separation of church and state turn a blind eye to such political maneuvers.
The church is being exploited for the benefit of these politicos, and unfortunately, religious leaders in these churches also ignore it and are more than willing to turn the pulpit over to the pandering politicians. These same people also vigorously criticize the church on social issues.
If we are to keep the aspect of separation of church and state alive, then keep the campaigning out of churches.
