Meningitis case reported at Bartlett High
Bartlett High School reported Wednesday in a letter to parents that a student has been diagnosed with bacterial meningitis. According to the school Web site, the student is being treated and is in serious but stable condition. The strain is more easily treated than meningococcal meningitis. The disease is transmitted through direct contact of oral secretion. Common symptoms include fever, severe headache, stiff neck, drowsiness or confusion and nausea and vomiting. Students are being advised to wash their hands often with warm, soapy water, refrain from sharing cups or eating utensils, and avoid contact with anyone with symptoms.
