Bogus cop admits probation violation
A Glen Ellyn man pleaded guilty Wednesday to violating the probation he received for falsely impersonating a police officer, authorities said.
Neil A. Villacorte, 26, will be sentenced March 26. He is expected to seek additional probation instead of jail time, said Drew Nickel, a Kane County prosecutor.
Villacorte, of 22W174 North Ave., pleaded guilty May 24, 2007, of falsely impersonating a police officer, which he was charged with on Feb. 2, 2007, in Elgin, court records show.
He was sentenced to 1½ years probation, and ordered to serve two weeks community service, and pay $1,400 court fines and costs, the records show.
In late October, Villacorte was back in court.
Probation officers said he failed three mandatory drug tests and refused to take a fourth, Nickel said.
Villacorte's lawyer was unavailable for comment.
The arrest last winter was not Villacorte's first in Elgin, records show. In April 2006, Elgin police stopped his vehicle for a traffic violation and discovered a small arsenal of knives, an expandable baton and nunchakus, police said.
