Smoking ban only makes health sense

To the people who have been writing in and crying that it is not fair that we can't have smoking-only restaurants and bars. I say it is more than fair and it just makes common sense to legislate away smoking in restaurants, bars and public places.

Only in recent years have the ill health effects of second-hand smoke become known. There are countless places of employment with employees who don't smoke but who started working at smoking establishments when it was not known that the second-hand smoke was harmful.

To allow restaurant and bars to choose to go smoking-only would create unhealthy working conditions for the employees who cannot afford to quit and look for another smoke-free job.

The only reason we legislate a minimum tolerance for alcohol while driving is because in large amounts it is unhealthy to others. That is a common-sense approach that is good for all.

There is no level of second-hand smoke that is not detrimental to your health so legislating away smoking in public is the common-sense health solution.
