Obama: All words, but little action
The Daily Herald editorial supporting Barack Obama in the Democratic primary could have been written by me when he ran for the U.S.Senate.
I attended fundraisers, rallies, distributed literature, and proudly displayed a sign in my yard.
I listened to his speeches of hope and going to Washington to be a senator who brought great change. I even had the opportunity to speak to him and came away as mesmerized as the Editorial Board.
But where is the beef? When do the speeches become more than speeches?
Barack Obama went to Washington and the ink was barely dry on his oath of office before he was running for president. What great change did he bring to Washington?
Our country is in a terrible mess and what we need now is not someone that makes us feel good, but someone that can get the job done.
The Herald claims Sen. Obama has more legislative experience than Sen. Clinton but they discount the fact she was in the West Wing of the White House for eight years.
She was the first first lady to have an office there and be involved in decision making. She was the first first lady to introduce legislation. Clinton designed and fought to implement the Children's Health Program, SCHIP. She also served a term and a half in the Senate in which she worked with senators on both side of the aisle to write and pass legislation.
Obama described himself to the Reno Gazette. as "I'm not an operating officer. My job is to set a vision of where the bureaucracy needs to go."
Sounds like Bush's last eight years to me.
