St. Charles asks voters to get educated on parks plans

The St. Charles City Council is urging voters to take the time Feb. 5 when considering the St. Charles Park District's referendum proposal.

Under Illinois law, the city can't expressly support the measure, Mayor Don DeWitte said. But the council did approved a resolution stating facts about the park district's plan and encouraging voters to familiarize themselves with it.

The proposal would allow the park district to issue $25 million in bonds to fund various improvements, including nearly $11 million for a new pool complex at Campton Hills Park, about $6 million to renovate the aging Pottawatomie Pool and $4 million for a nature center at Campton Hills Park
