Elgin Public Museum notes

The Elgin Public Museum is starting off the PAWS (Preschoolers Awareness of the World) series from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 9.

PAWS is geared to children ages 3 to 7 who will learn through the use of creative games, crafts and stories. Museum educator Marge Fox will start the first series of programs with "Mammal Mania."

February will feature moose. Children will learn about these creatures and their lives in the North Woods, as well as see real specimens of moose in the museum.

March will feature squirrels. Learn about this mammal that lives all around. Learn how squirrels survive the winter and what kind of home they live in. Children will play games and make interactive crafts at this program.

In April, the program will highlight bison and the herd living in Lords Park.
