Vote 'yes' on VA health care issue
I am a member of Veterans for Unification, a not-for- profit group of veterans concerned about the health care and benefits for veterans. I have served in the Navy and Naval Reserve for many years.
On the upcoming primary, there will be a referendum in Cook County and a number of other counties in Illinois supporting full mandatory funding of the VA health care system. This is a bipartisan, nonbinding referendum which states that "all eligible honorably discharged U.S. veterans should receive quality and accessible health care and related services."
We are asking voters to vote yes for the full mandatory funding for the VA on Feb. 5 to show our congresspeople that we care about veterans.
Our veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan with physical and mental wounds need to know we will take care of them. We ask men and women to give their all for their country and we need to provide them what they deserve in health care.
