Sees no reason not to sell village guns
I have been reading the articles and letters to the editor regarding the sale of firearms by the Carpentersville Police Department. This was opposed by some on the premise the guns could eventually be used in an illegal manner.
However, they have in the past, sold and/or auctioned various vehicles. Who can say for sure that the new owner will not be at fault in a fatal accident or become intoxicated and fatally injure someone? I do believe people buying the firearms are screened more than those buying the vehicles.
Also, unclaimed bicycles and other miscellaneous unclaimed items are sold and/or auctioned. Just "maybe" a child will get a first bicycle and while learning to ride it, fall and seriously hurt themselves. Perhaps vehicles and bicycles should be destroyed by the police department, too.
I can see no valid reason not to have legally sold the firearms.
And how can one person have so much influence to change the decision of the Carpentersville board?
