Anti-gun proposals harass law abiding
Commissioners William Beavers and Larry Suffredin have proposed two ordinances for Cook County. Here is a synopsis, since the newspapers certainly don't want you to know this.
Ban all gun stores within 15 miles of each other even if the other store is in another county or within a mile of any church, school, home for the aged or any public park. Result: All gun shops have to close, including the new Cabela's in Hoffman Estates.
Register all guns in the county, with a fee attached. Also, every handgun must have a load indicator to be registered. That means all handguns up to now have to be turned in to the sheriff because they just don't have such a feature.
You will not be allowed to have ammo in your home or possession if you do not have a registered gun of the same caliber. No .22s if you don't own and register a .22 gun.
When transporting your gun in a vehicle, it must be broken down in an inoperable condition. Have fun putting your gun back together at the range or cornfield. Don't lose any parts.
If you haven't called your commissioner by now, I suggest you do, telling them to oppose such ridiculous ordinances. Not one of the papers will tell you the truth and the newscasters will definitely use sugar language to cover up the true facts.
If you don't want the crime Chicago has because of gun control, you had better act now. Suffredin is now running for state's attorney in the primary. I'm sure you can also tell him how you feel when you cast your ballot.
This is nothing but harassment of the law abiding.
