bull; The profile of the ideal candidate for the next superintendent to lead Elgin Area School District U-46 is taking shape after PROACT Search Inc. held focus groups and public forums Jan. 8-11.

The public is encouraged to participate by completing a survey, which can be accessed from the home page of the district Web site, www.u-46.org.

Data collected from the survey will help the search firm identify those characteristics most important to the district stakeholders, as well as identify key issues the new superintendent will face in the first year on the job.

Nine public forums were hosted over three days, in addition to nearly 50 focus groups with key stakeholders. The consultants will report their findings from the survey to the board of education in February and results will be posted on the district's Web page under "Superintendent Search." The board hopes to interview candidates in April.
