Books Are Sweet: Registration is under way for kids in eighth grade and younger to join the six-week reading club, "Books Are Sweet," and win prizes for reading books. Sign up at the Youth Reference desk.
Evening book discussion: The group will discuss Oprah's Book Club recommendation "Middlesex" by Jeffery Eugenides at 7 p.m. Jan. 31. Books are available for special checkout at the Circulation Desk. Refreshments will be served. Contact Rich Erikson at (847) 546-7060, ext. 123.

Movie Matinee in Spanish: At 1 p.m. Feb. 3, a teenage Rockhopper penguin, who is an up-and-coming surfer about to enter his first pro competition, leaves Antarctica for the warmer climates. Participants are welcome to bring beverages, snacks or lunch. Rated "PG."
Drop-in Movie Night: Nicholas Cage stars as a Las Vegas magician who can see into the future, at 6 p.m. Feb. 7. Rated "PG-13."
Library Closing: The library will be closed on Feb. 8 for a staff training day.

Book discussion group: The Round Lake Area Library will be hold a live telephone conference with Lisa Unger, author of "Sliver of Truth" and "Beautiful Lies" at 3 p.m. Feb. 12. The group will be discussing the book, "Sliver of Truth," and will meet on Tuesday, Unger will be available via speakerphone to answer questions from the group. Visit. Free citizenship classes: The library holds classes from a 6 p.m. Tuesdays in the meeting room. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. Participants must know basic English.
