Freight traffic will box residents in
To the editor: We are writing to voice our concern regarding the CN Railroad. We live in the vicinity of Cuba Road and Route 59. If the freight train traffic increases as the CN Railroad says it will, it will be very difficult for us to even get out of our neighborhood due to the traffic backup caused by the increased number and the length of the trains.
Route 59 and Ela Road are congested everyday now. Increased train traffic will make these roads impassable. Regardless of the inconvenience of daily travel, a major concern is road accessibility to emergency vehicles. Downtown Barrington has its own struggles and increased train traffic that will cause increased traffic jams, will discourage people from shopping, dining or doing business in Barrington.
CN Railroad is doing the right thing in transporting products that benefit all of us. However, CN Railroad needs to do the RIGHT thing for the people that live and/or travel through the Barrington area. There are solutions and CN Railroad needs to DO THE RIGHT THING!
