Comment wins '08 insensitivity award

To the editor: Well, it looks like the Bartlett community development director is leading the pack for the "2008 Insensitive Comment of the Year" Award. His suggestion that the new dual Bartlett Metra stop, one inbound/one outbound, provides a longer walk for riders to get to their cars should not concern disabled passengers is offensive at best and outright stupid at worst.

He says the new station configuration in Bartlett "complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act. While it's longer, it's not like it's a mile or anything."

That's like saying that the disabled are "lucky" because they get to park near entrances to buildings. Does he want to trade my handicapped placard for his good set of legs?
