Trivia bowl collects food

The Algonquin Area Public Library needs six teams of two teachers and two high school students to compete in its fifth annual trivia bowl. Supporters are also encouraged to donate nonperishable items to the local food pantry. An extra point will be awarded to the team that brings the most food. Registration ends Friday. French Club collects books

Tuesday is the last chance to help the Jacobs High School French Club collect new and used books to send to needy communities in Africa. The book drive is the club's annual service project. People can drop off book donations at Jacobs' school services office, 2601 Bunker Hill Drive, in Algonquin. Books also can be dropped off at the district's central office at 300 Cleveland Ave. in Carpentersville. The club aims to collect 50, 50-pound boxes of books and $2,000 to pay for shipping.
