Day care operator charged in death of 5-month-old

Authorities say a 30-year-old day care operator has been charged in the shaking death of a five-month-old baby.

Chicago police say Sharon Maton faces first-degree murder in the death Milak Cooley.

She is being held in lieu of $1 million bail Sunday.

Prosecutors say Maton was taking care of Cooley and his older brother in her home day-care on Friday.

A Cook County Assistant State's Attorney says the baby started to cry and Morton allegedly shook him for over a minute to get him to stop.

The baby was pronounced dead Saturday at Mt. Sinai Hospital.

Moton has operated a licensed day care out of her home since 2006.

Moton's cousin Delshay Adams says that he doesn't think Moton would hurt a child.
