Aurora man killed in I-355 crash
A 34-year-old Aurora man was killed when his car hit a median on an I-355 off-ramp early Sunday morning.
James Fleming was exiting onto I-88 west when he hit the median between the east and west exits at 3:49 a.m., said Master Sgt. Glenn DeVries of the Illinois State Police.
There were no other cars involved, and weather was not a factor, DeVries said.
"He may have been unsure about what lane to be in," he said.
Fleming was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, where he was pronounced dead an hour later.
The airbag on Fleming's vehicle didn't deploy, and he wasn't wearing a seat belt, DeVries said.
"Unfortunately, if he would have had a seat belt on he probably would have survived," he said.
Illinois State Police and the DuPage County coroner's office are continuing to investigate the crash.
