Opera preview lecture: The music and story of "Falstaff," by Giuseppe Verdi is featured at the Lyric Opera Preview Lecture at 2 p.m. Sunday. This free event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library in the second floor Hendrickson room. No registration required.
Used book sale: The Friends of the Library's Fab Feb Used Book Sale is from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 2, and from noon to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 3. There are books, music, magazines and movies for all ages at bargain prices. On Saturday only, there will also be a silent auction from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on special autographed and collectible items and sets. On Sunday only, fill a grocery bag full of bargain items for just $3. No electronic devices -- scanners, laptops, cell phones, etc. -- are allowed at this sale.
Homework help: Free tutors in math, science, social studies, and English for grades 4-12 are available from 2 to 10 p.m. daily at: www.ahml.info, Kids' World, homework. Students may also e-mail their questions to the library or IM a librarian at www.ahml.info.
Tax help: For seniors aged 60 and older, there are free income tax counseling appointments with IRS-trained AARP tax aides. Sign up at the Reception desk, (847) 392-0100, or online at www.ahml.info. Appointments are available Mondays, Feb. 11 to April 14 at 9, 10, or 11 a.m. in the Hendrickson room.
