Why Dan Seals should be elected

Many U.S. citizens believe the three major issues in the upcoming congressional elections are the economy, health care, and the war in Iraq. In my opinion, we can't begin to seriously address the first two issues until we resolve the third.

I see a striking resemblance in the effects that the Vietnam War and the war in Iraq have had on the U.S. economy.

President Lyndon Johnson's guns and butter program took a terrible toll on the economy just as President Bush's financing of the Iraq War through deficit spending has done to the current economy. Bush received continuous support from the Republican-majority Congress, including Mark Kirk of the 10th Congressional district, at least until the 2006 elections when the Democrats regained control of Congress.

I agree with Dan Seal's stance on the Iraq issue. He said, "We must bring a responsible end to this war. Setting a timeline for a troop withdrawal increases the pressure on the Iraqi government to get its act together while ensuring that our troops come home as soon as possible."

We need representatives like Dan Seals of the 10th Congressional District to proactively end the Iraq War.
